Marist Asia Foundation (MAF) welcomes Joshua Cain as a Volunteer. Here’s a short bio written by Joshua:
My name’s Josh, and I’m from the UK. I am 23 years old and recently graduated from St Andrews University in Scotland, where I studied history.
Volunteering in Ranong is the end result of a long journey that began more than a year and a half ago when I was first began to feel that God was calling me to leave home and serve Him abroad. I reached out to the Marists in London, and they helped me explore various options before we finally settled on Ranong. My journey was postponed last August after I broke my hip in a car crash, but I finally arrived this month and am ready to start work.
I’m still getting settled in at the moment, but the community here is great and very welcoming. I’m learning my way around town and meeting new people, and I look forward to the start of school in May.
At Marist Asia Foundation, we are always grateful for the presence and generosity of our volunteers—whether they stay for a short visit or commit to 6, 12, or even 24 months. Each person brings unique gifts that contribute meaningfully to our mission and community life.
We are currently welcoming volunteer applications for 2025. Due to immigration and legal requirements in Thailand, preference is now given to those able to stay for at least six months.
Each year, we seek 2–3 volunteers to support our English and Social Studies classes. Qualified teachers are especially encouraged to apply, as there are opportunities to mentor and train local educators.
If you’re interested in joining us, please visit our volunteer page and feel free to explore and share the inspiring stories of past volunteers and visitors.
